Skype idea
Talked to an ITRT who worked with a second grade class using Skype. They Skyped to themselves - one laptop with camera set up out in the hall and one in the room. Students had a topic to research / learn about and they explained it to the class from the hall trying to portray an visiting expert then took questions from the class. Teacher said the interest level was very high - they liked talking to each other on a video connection (just like TV ) and they put extra effort into their topic because their classmates were asking them questions.
